“One day the world will be one country”

AbbasHi! I am Abbass Mouawia from Lebanon and I am 24 years old. I am an interior architect and I graduated  nearly 9 months ago. I would like to talk about my special experience in Palermo city with CaBuReRa project: this experience with CESIE organization has been the beginning of my professional life and the quantum leap in my curriculum vitae. They gave me a valuable opportunity for gaining experience and knowledge and discover other cultures and societies. I met a lot of new people and make new friends from other countries and backgrounds, and of course I can’t forget the great chance of enhancing my life by travelling and visiting other countries and cities. I remember that at the very beginning of the project I was quite homesick but thanks to CESIE’s team the situation changed soon: they make me feel like I was in my country with my family and they worked hard to find the better place for me to work. I did an internship in FABLAB, that is really a good place with also the better people and stuff I’ve ever met. Those people also worked hard for teaching me the basics and fundamental ways to work in my domain as well as how to deal with people; they also gave me hundreds of creative ideas. One of the most important benefits I got from the CaBuReRa experience is surely the Italian class: it really makes me proud being able to speak the most romantic language in the world and to interact with the “palermitani”, people who gave me the help I need when I asked for some information about buses, streets, beaches, etc.

I am pretty sure that CaBuReRa project will be a strong ally in my professional life and a source of amazing memories in my social life . I hope from the depth of my heart that I’ll stay in contact with my new CESIE family and with all the people I met in Palermo. I am very thankful for all the support and help they gave to me and I really appreciate the CESIE’s efforts in dealing with us.

Thank you for your hospitality, thank you so much.

A focus on the Arab World: conference and intercultural event in Palermo

A focus on the Arab World: conference and intercultural event in Palermo

caburera-intercultural-event-palermo-res (11)In the framework of the CaBuReRa  and TATRAC projects, a conference about “The future of the associations of the civil society in Maghreb and in the Middle East” took place on Friday 31st July in Moltivolti (via M. Puglia, 21 – Palermo). The conference – that represented also the final moment of the three days of visits and training sessions addressed to the Sicilian and Tunisian partners of the TATRAC project – was followed by an Intercultural Event. During that, the 10 CaBuReRa young participants who terminated their mobility period in Palermo talked about their home countries – Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine – and introduced themselves by means of music, cooking and cultural traditions.

The meeting was firstly aimed to reflect on the future of the organizations of the civil society in the Arab World, but wanted also to highlight the main points of  both the CaBuReRa and TATRAC projects, funded by ENPI programmes (ENPI CBC Med for CaBuReRa, ENPI Italy-Tunisia 2007-2013 for TATRAC). Rita Quisillo, coordinator of CaBuReRa, talked about this project that wants to contribute to the development of a Mediterranean network between youth, local authorities, public authorities and education protagonists in order to promote active citizenship and intercultural dialogue through mobility experiences. On the other hand, Abdelhamid Abidi, coordinator of the TATRAC project, focused his speech on the future of civil society in the Arab world especially after the Arab Spring.  Abidi claimed that the activism of civil society is an important instrument of democratization which depends widely on the participation of the youth. Agreed with this statement, three of the CaBuReRa participants – Muna Sbouh, Mohammad Alhasan and Diyaa Mubaideen – presented the current situation of Palestinian and Jordanian organizations for the civil society, focusing on differences and similarities among Arab countries.

The following Intercultural Event was a success, joined by a great number of people that really enjoyed the Arab food prepared by our CaBuReRa participants. It should be considered a fundamental step along the way of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, as well as an occasion of cultural growth not just for the youth!

  • Abdelhamid Abidi, ANPR, Coordinator of the TATRAC project
  • Mohammad AlHasan, Muna Sbouh and Dyaa Mubaideen, participants of the CaBuReRa project

In the framework of the CaBuReRa (Capacity Building Relay Race) and TATRACTissu Associatif et Transfert de Connaissances [Network of Associations and Knowledge Transfer]) projects, the conference called “The future of the associations of the civil society in Maghreb and in the Middle East” will be held on Friday, the 31st July at 17:00, in Moltivolti (via M. Puglia, 21, Palermo).

In the framework of the ENPI programme (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument) and thanks to a total budget of € 1.680.000, funded at 90% by the European Union, CaBuReRa develops a training, exchange and networking project. CaBuReRa wants to contribute to the development of a Mediterranean network between youth, local authorities, public authorities and education protagonists in order to facilitate the school-to-work transition and promote active citizenship and intercultural dialogue through mobility experiences. In such context, the project will involve 30 Youth Workers and 60 Young Unemployed, who will carry out a period of mobility in Italy, Greece, Portugal, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.

TATRAC (Tissu Associatif et Transfert de Connaissances [Network of Associations and Knowledge Transfer]) is on the other hand a cross-border cooperation project funded by the ENPI programme Italy-Tunisia 2017-2013. The project aims mainly at encouraging the civil society to take up an active role in the innovation process, by supporting the associations, enhancing scientific knowledge, sharing good practices and promoting the building of a culture of innovation.

Both projects will be presented during the conference held on the 31st of July, organized as a conclusion to the period of mobility carried out by the 10 young participants to the CaBuReRa project who performed volunteer services and did training sessions in Palermo during the last month. The conference will also be the occasion to put an end to the training sessions and the visits to which participated the Sicilian and Tunisian partners of the  TATRAC project from the 27th to the 31st of July 2015.

The 31st of July will thus be dedicated to intercultural values, associative work and exchange of good practices, to promote the development of a culture of innovation. The conference will be followed by an Intercultural evening, during which the 10 young participants to the CaBuReRa project, currently carrying out a mobility period in Palermo, will share their experience and culture through music, food and traditional dances from their own countries (Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine).

Partnership and TG2 Mid-Term Mobility Meeting in Jordan

Mobility Meeting JordanCaBuReRa Partnership Meeting and Mid-Term Mobility Meeting for the second group of participants took place in Amman, Jordan, from June 26th to the 2nd of July 2015. It involved the 51 young participants from Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Portugal, Italy and Greece who from May till August 2015 are doing an internship in the field of project management in different organisations located on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea basin. These participants are young graduates and unemployed who are trying to become part of the labour market: they belong to the second group of young people to whom CaBuReRa offers a valuable opportunity of capacity building.

CaBuReRa is an ENPI CBC Med project aimed to reduce the rate of youth unemployment in the Euro-Mediterranean area by giving participant the opportunity to gain across-the-board skills in the field of project management and international cooperation.

During the Partnership Meeting the CaBuReRa partners analysed the state of play of the project implementation and focused their attention on the 51 young participants who are now living their mobility experience.

The Mid-Term Mobility Meeting was a unique opportunity for the participants to meet each other, to be trained on project writing and call for proposals and to share their mobility experience. Moreover, the trainers and participants worked in synergy to capitalise the skills acquired during their mobility experience, learning a successful way of using these competences in the labour market. The Mobility- Meeting has been also an opportunity to introduce the CaBuReRa participants to the internship at national level they will do once back in their own countries.

CaBuReRa Mobility Meeting in Jordan has come to an end

Caburera_Mobility_Meeting_JordanThe Mid-Term Mobility Meeting held in Amman, Jordan within the CaBuReRa project, has just ended. 58 young participants from the Target Group 2 (TG2), coming from Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Greece, Portugal and Italy, met up together for evaluating the first part of their mobility and plan the forthcoming part. These participants are all Young Unemployed who are currently spending a period abroad for attending a training in the field of project management in different organisations located on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea basin.

During the Mid-Term Meeting in Jordan, CaBuReRa participants took part in some intensive training sessions related to project management and had also the opportunity to circulate ideas, opinions, knowledge and professional aspirations among the colleagues coming from all the other countries involved in the CaBuReRa project.

So, between moments of fun along the Dead Sea coasts and hours of in-depth analysis about Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, it should be said that future project managers are growing up…!

Mobility Meeting in Jordan: new skills for the future

IMG_4125The first day of the TG2 Mid-Term Mobility Meeting in Jordan has just ended in a very good mood and sound.

The different groups have closed the intensive activity-day with a song expressing their willing to share their mobility experience and to have fun all together.

Countries’ presentations, laughing, peer to peer activities and reflection on skills were the main elements of the sessions.

The TG2s were so excited and the good feelings of the day allowed all of them to analyse their experiences and the first cultural difficulties faced during their mobility. The trainers as well facilitated the analysis of the learning mobility skills and the reflection on how to exploit them for employment.

The following days will give opportunity to further evaluate the first part of the mobility period and to have a look into the future: refining the expectations and learning goals for the second part of the mobility and for the local internship.

Stay tuned!

CaBuReRa presented in the frame of international seminar in Athens

International seminar in Athens (1)The Family and Childcare Centre KMOP, the Greek partner of CaBuReRa project, organised in Athens, on the 18th of June 2015, the 3rd international seminar, which was a core activity of the project titled ValidVol: Validation of Key Competences in Voluntary Service Organisations.

The ValidVol Project has been funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme under the Grundtvig sub-programme. It involves partners from the United Kingdom, Austria, Greece, Spain and Italy and is aimed to equip volunteers who are aged over 50 with the skills and competences to improve their employability prospects; this is achieved by recognising and accrediting the learning and skills that individual volunteers gain through their work in the voluntary sector.

Even though the project focuses on mature volunteers, the international seminar was a successful event which was attended by many young volunteers. KMOP took the chance to present them the CaBuReRa project, giving special emphasis on the voluntary character of the mobility activities and on the important working experience gained by the young participants from all involved countries.
